Fourthwall review 2026: merch, memberships, fees and payouts

Merch, memberships and digital products in one branded shop, with no monthly fee

Filed under Merch. By CreatorPaper editors. Fees verified .

Our verdict

Fourthwall adds no fee to catalog merch beyond each product's listed base cost, charges 5% on memberships and 5% on digital products on the Free plan, and passes on US card processing of 2.9% + $0.30. On $1,000 of $10 memberships a creator keeps $891. Payouts go out monthly by the 3rd business day once the balance reaches $25.

Fourthwall charges nothing on merch beyond each product’s listed base cost and takes 5% of membership revenue, plus US card processing of 2.9% + $0.30. On $1,000 of $10 memberships that leaves $891. Fourthwall also prints, ships, answers customer emails and handles sales tax as merchant of record, which makes it the simplest way we know for a creator with an audience to run a branded shop. Payouts are the weak spot, once a month with a $25 minimum and a manual review before the first one.

How much does Fourthwall take?

Fourthwall takes 0% on merch and self-sourced products, 5% on memberships and 5% on digital products on the Free plan, as of October 2026. Every order also pays payment processing, which Fourthwall passes through at Stripe and PayPal rates.

What you sell Free plan fee Pro plan fee
Catalog merch Listed base cost only Listed base cost only
Self-sourced products 0% 0%
Digital products 5% of list price 0%
Memberships 5% 5%
Donations and tips 0% 0%

The base cost is the flat price Fourthwall lists in its catalog for making each item, and you set the selling price on top. Fourthwall’s own example is a shirt with a $10 base cost sold for $22, which leaves $12 of profit before processing.

Payment method Processing fee
US credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay 2.9% + $0.30
International card 3.9% + $0.30
PayPal, domestic 3.49% + $0.49
PayPal, international 4.99% + $0.49
Buy now, pay later 6% + $0.30, plus 1% for international buyers

Buy now, pay later is off by default. Processing applies to the whole order total, shipping and tax included. In another Fourthwall example, a $25 shirt with $6 shipping and $2.50 sales tax makes a $33.50 order that pays $1.27 in processing. The digital product fee works the other way, charged on the list price, so a promo code lowers what the buyer pays but not the 5%.

Is Fourthwall Pro worth it?

Fourthwall Pro costs $19 a month, or $15 a month billed yearly. It removes the 5% digital product fee and adds $10 a month of shop credit for samples, a free .store domain, 100 GB of digital storage, unlimited team members and priority support. As arithmetic, the fee savings alone cover Pro once you sell about $380 a month of digital products on monthly billing, or about $300 on yearly billing. Merch and membership sellers save nothing on fees by upgrading.

How do Fourthwall payouts work?

Fourthwall pays automatically once a month, by the 3rd business day, for everything earned in the previous calendar month. Your balance must be at least $25, and smaller balances carry over.

Most creators get paid through Stripe Connect by ACH, wire or debit card. The money arrives in the currency of your Stripe Connect country, so a UK account is paid in pounds, and you cannot choose a different payout currency. Creators in countries Stripe does not support are paid through bill.com by the 5th working day, with a $35 minimum for payouts in Brazilian real. US banks usually show the money within 1 to 3 business days and international banks within 3 to 10.

A new shop’s first payout is held until Fourthwall manually reviews the site, a one-time fraud check separate from Stripe setup. You can keep selling during the review. Fourthwall does not offer early payouts, and refunds or chargebacks that push a shop’s balance below zero must be recovered before payouts resume.

How do you make money on Fourthwall?

Fourthwall combines merch, memberships, digital products and tips in one shop that can run on your own domain. You pay nothing until you sell.

Merch

Pick products from Fourthwall’s catalog, add your designs and set prices, and Fourthwall manufactures and ships each order. You can sell products you source yourself alongside them, shipping them yourself or sending stock to Fourthwall. Fourthwall connects to YouTube’s merch shelf, Instagram and Facebook Shopping, and TikTok Shopping so fans can buy where they watch.

Memberships

Fourthwall memberships can include members-only video, audio, images, polls, private RSS feeds and Discord channel access. You can offer annual billing at a discount you choose, free trials and promo codes. Members get a mobile web app branded to you that installs from the browser instead of an app store, so no Apple or Google fee applies. You can also run a free tier, which Fourthwall suggests as a way to collect supporter emails before you ask anyone to pay.

Fourthwall publishes a guide for moving from Patreon, including an import tool for posts. Your patrons still have to sign up again on your site.

Twitch tools

Fourthwall has two features built for Twitch streamers. With Twitch Gifting, you or your viewers can buy memberships or merch while you are live and give them away to chat, with Fourthwall’s bot running the draw. With Twitch sub discounts, your Twitch subscribers log in with Twitch at checkout and get a discount you set, by tier, with no codes to hand out.

Digital products and tips

You can sell files such as ebooks or presets, with storage of 5 GB on Free and 100 GB on Pro. Donations and tips carry no Fourthwall fee, only payment processing.

Taxes and customer data

Fourthwall acts as merchant of record, so it registers for, collects and remits sales tax for you. Order exports include each customer’s email and address, and Fourthwall says it never markets to your supporters or sells their data.

Who is Fourthwall best for?

Fourthwall suits YouTubers, streamers and podcasters who already have an audience and want merch, memberships and a storefront under their own brand without holding inventory. The 5% membership fee is lower than many dedicated membership platforms, and you keep your customer list.

Skip Fourthwall if you need the platform to find buyers for you. There is no marketplace, so sales depend on the traffic you send. Creators who need money more than once a month should also look elsewhere.
