How much do Twitch streamers make? Subs, Bits and ads in 2026

Short answer

Twitch pays streamers 50% of net subscription revenue on its standard split, 60% or 70% through the Plus Program, 1 cent per Bit and 55% of net ad revenue, as of October 2026. On a $5.99 US Tier 1 sub that is at most about $3.00 to $4.19 per sub before deductions Twitch does not itemize. As arithmetic, 250 Tier 1 subs pay a ceiling of about $749 a month at 50/50, or $899 at Plus Level 1.

A Twitch streamer gets at most about $3.00 from each $5.99 US Tier 1 sub on Twitch’s standard 50/50 split, so 250 subs pay a ceiling of roughly $749 a month, and the Plus Program can raise the split to 60% or 70%. Bits add 1 cent each, and ads pay 55% of net ad revenue. Every dollar figure on this page is arithmetic on published splits, not a report of what any streamer earned.

The word “ceiling” matters. Twitch takes out sales tax, payment processing, bank fees and currency costs before it splits sub revenue, and it does not publish those deductions.

How does Twitch pay streamers?

Twitch pays streamers from subscriptions, Bits, ads and, since August 2026, sponsorships for Affiliates. Subscriptions come with the most published rules, so most of this page is about them.

Revenue stream What the streamer gets, as of October 2026 Who qualifies
Subscriptions, standard 50% of net revenue Affiliates and Partners
Subscriptions, Plus Level 1 60% of net revenue 100+ Plus Points for 3 straight months
Subscriptions, Plus Level 2 70% of net revenue 300+ Plus Points for 3 straight months
Bits 1 cent per Bit Affiliates and Partners
Ads 55% of net ad revenue Channels running 3+ ad minutes per hour
Sponsorships Not published Partners, and Affiliates who complete Twitch’s certification

Twitch sets sub prices, and streamers cannot change the base price. A Tier 1 sub costs $5.99 in the United States, with lower local prices in many other countries.

How much does Twitch take from subs?

Twitch keeps 50% of net subscription revenue on its standard split. Net means Twitch first deducts sales taxes, payment processing, bank fees and currency conversion, which its Affiliate FAQ says vary by region and payment method.

As arithmetic on the US price, half of $5.99 is about $3.00, so that is the most a standard Tier 1 sub can pay you. The same sub is worth up to about $3.59 at 60% and $4.19 at 70%. Subs bought at lower local prices pay less.

How does the Plus Program raise the split?

The Plus Program pays 60% at Level 1 and 70% at Level 2 to streamers who reach 100 or 300 Plus Points in each of three consecutive months. Twitch opened it to Affiliates on May 1, 2024.

Points come only from recurring paid subs. A Tier 1 renewal earns 1 point, Tier 2 earns 2 and Tier 3 earns 6. Gift subs and Prime subs earn no points, though gift sub revenue is paid at the higher rate once you qualify. Prime sub revenue never is.

Points reset on the first of each month, when Twitch checks who qualifies. Once you are in, you keep the higher rate for 12 months from your latest qualifying month, and each further qualifying month extends it. You must accept the Monetized Streamer Agreement before the months you want counted.

How much do 50, 250 and 1,000 subs pay on Twitch?

As arithmetic on Twitch’s published splits, 50 Tier 1 subs pay a ceiling of about $150 a month, 250 pay about $749 to $899 and 1,000 pay about $2,995 to $4,193. The range depends on whether the channel has held enough Plus Points for three months.

The table assumes every sub is a recurring, paid US Tier 1 sub at $5.99, bought at the web price, and that the channel has kept the same sub count for at least three months. Each figure is a ceiling before Twitch’s unpublished deductions.

Active Tier 1 subs Plus Points a month Split you qualify for Monthly ceiling
50 50 Standard 50% $149.75
250 250 Level 1, 60% $898.50, or $748.75 at 50%
1,000 1,000 Level 2, 70% $4,193, or $2,995 at 50%

Real channels mix sub types. Gift and Prime subs earn no Plus Points, so a channel whose 250 subs are half gifted has only 125 points and still qualifies for Level 1, while one with mostly Prime subs may not. Prime sub revenue also stays at the standard rate even after you qualify.

How much are Bits worth?

Twitch pays streamers 1 cent per Bit, according to its Partner Program page. As arithmetic, 10,000 Bits cheered in a month pay $100.

Bits are flat, which makes them the easiest Twitch income to forecast. There is no tier, no Plus Points and no split to calculate.

How much do Twitch ads pay?

Twitch pays Affiliates and Partners 55% of net ad revenue when Ads Manager runs at least 3 ad minutes per hour. Twitch folded its old Ads Incentive Program into Ads Manager, so there is nothing separate to join.

Twitch does not publish CPMs or a rate per viewer, so nobody outside Twitch can tell you what an hour of ads pays. Running 3 minutes an hour also switches off pre-roll ads for viewers joining your stream, which spares new arrivals an ad on the way in.

Can Twitch Affiliates get sponsorships?

Yes. Since August 20, 2026, Affiliates can take brand deals through Twitch’s Sponsorship Portal after completing the Creator Sponsorship Certification course, and Partners already had access. Twitch has not published what share, if any, it keeps from those deals.

Brand deals you arrange yourself sit outside Twitch’s payout system. Our guides on how brand deals work and how to price sponsored posts cover setting a fee.

When do Twitch streamers start getting paid?

Any streamer who finishes monetization onboarding can now receive subs and Bits, but Twitch pays cash only to Affiliates and Partners. Twitch opened subs and Bits to all streamers worldwide on May 13, 2026, and earnings before Affiliate sit in a Spendable Balance you can only spend on Twitch.

Twitch invites you to the Affiliate Program once you reach 25 followers, 4 hours streamed, streams on 4 different days and an average of 3 concurrent viewers on 4 different days, all within 30 days. Our guide to how many followers you need to get paid compares that bar with every other platform.

How do Twitch payouts work?

Twitch pays monthly on a Net-15 schedule, starting on the 15th of the month after you earn the money, once your balance reaches $50. Wire transfers need $100, and smaller balances roll over until they cross the threshold.

US payout method Fee per payout Typical arrival
ACH direct deposit $0.25 3 to 5 days
PayPal $0.50 1 to 2 days
Paper check $3.00 1 to 2 weeks
Wire transfer $11.00 1 to 3 days

Affiliates pay those fees, and Twitch covers them for Partners. Streamers who convert their payout from US dollars to a local currency pay a conversion fee of up to 2.5%, and a payout method change made after the 8th of a month misses that month’s payout. So January earnings paid by ACH arrive in the second half of February.

How does Twitch compare with Kick and YouTube?

Twitch’s standard split is the smallest of the three. Kick keeps 5% of each flat $5 sub, and YouTube keeps 30% of net channel membership and Super Chat revenue.

Here is the same arithmetic on each platform’s published sub price and split. YouTube is left out of the dollar columns because creators set their own membership prices.

Subs Twitch, $5.99 at 50% Twitch, best Plus level Kick, $5 at 95%
50 $149.75 $149.75, no Plus level $237.50
250 $748.75 $898.50 at Level 1 $1,187.50
1,000 $2,995 $4,193 at Level 2 $4,750

Kick Partners also earn per stream from a formula Kick does not publish, so its real total can run higher than the table. Twitch’s Level 2 rate of 70% matches what YouTube pays on every membership without a points test.

The audience decides more than the split. Our Twitch vs Kick and YouTube vs Twitch comparisons weigh discovery against the cut, and our best platforms for streamers ranks every live option. We would stream on Twitch because your viewers are there, and sell a membership on Patreon or Ko-fi for your biggest supporters.
